About Open Circle
Open Circle is a weekly Sunday program of the Lake Chapala Society that brings people together for thoughtful, engaging presentations that spark curiosity, reflection, and connection. Talks are educational and experiential, designed to offer insight, perspective, and a meaningful way to spend a Sunday morning.

The development and scheduling of Open Circle Ajijic presentations is a three part process:

  1. Please read our Presentation Guidelines.

     

  2. Next, complete our presentation proposal form below to outline briefly your presentation topic. The submitted proposal will be reviewed by the Open Circle Coordinator. The proposal will be evaluated on its merits, uniqueness of topic, and suitability for our audience. There is no guarantee that a presentation proposal will be approved.

     

  3. If your proposal does find acceptance, the coordinator will contact you to establish a date for your talk in the coming weeks or months.
     

  4. We encourage all speakers to be members of LCS.

Recording Presentations

Open Circle Ajijic will no longer be recording videos of presentations.  If you wish to record your own presentation, we can help with tripods, etc.  And if the recording is to be published on the web, we will be happy to publish the link to the video on your site.

2. TALK DESCRIPTION (120–150 words)

Please write in the third person (no “I,” “we,” or “you”). This description will be used to promote your talk.

A strong Open Circle description:

• names the topic clearly

• surfaces a question, tension, or curiosity people may recognize

• hints at what attendees may experience or gain (insight, relief, or enjoyment)

• uses a warm, conversational tone (not promotional)


Helpful starting line:

“This talk may be of interest to anyone who…”

5. PRESENTATION STYLE (check all that apply)

What Open Circle Does Not Accept

To maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment, Open Circle does not accept presentations that:

• Promote or sell products, services, or programs

• Offer medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic advice

• Advocate for political parties, candidates, or campaigns

• Promote religious doctrine or proselytizing

• Use fear-based, sensational, or conspiratorial framingTalks should be appropriate for a general audience.
